New Book Blood Sugar Dogs: Steady Glucose, Real Energy, and the Life You Want · Releasing World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2026
Get NotifiedBlood sugar instability touches everything — energy, weight, mood, sleep, how fast you age. Most people don't connect those dots until something forces them to. You don't have to wait that long.
I help people with diabetes and metabolic challenges understand what's actually happening in their bodies, build habits that hold, and — if they want — explore what a blood sugar alert dog can add to the picture.
Karin Collinsworth · Type 1 Diabetic Since 1996 · DCCT/EDIC Longitudinal Study Participant · 500-hr Registered Yoga Teacher · 40 Years of Health Research, Yoga, Ayurveda & Nutrition · Public Health & Systems Thinker · Foreword by Raymond Aaron
You crash after meals, drag through afternoons, wake up already tired. You've tried cutting things out, adding things in. Nothing sticks because the underlying system is still unstable.
You're watching what's happening to people around you and want a different story. Curious about longevity, your body's signals — you want to work with your biology, not override it.
Prediabetes, Type 2, Type 1, or persistent metabolic drift. You need more than a handout. You need someone who has lived this for four decades and knows what actually works.
Blood sugar doesn't exist in isolation. It talks to your hormones, your sleep, your stress response, your inflammation levels, your mood. When you stabilize glucose, everything else gets quieter. Energy returns. Weight becomes easier to regulate. Brain fog lifts.
Most approaches treat the symptom. This work looks at the whole system — and finds the leverage points that actually compound over time.
Forty years of research and lived experience — distilled into three things you can actually use. Enter your email once and they arrive over the next few days.
The opening chapter, delivered to your inbox. It begins with Cocoa — and what she noticed before any device could. If this doesn't make you want to read the rest, nothing will.
The five things that actually move blood sugar, energy, and inflammation — based on four decades of research and practice. Practical. No perfection required.
How Cocoa learned to detect blood sugar shifts — the science, the method, and the moment I realized she was reading my body more accurately than I was.
First chapter arrives immediately. The guide and Cocoa's story follow over the next few days. No daily emails. No pressure. No upsell sequence.

Forty years of living with Type 1 diabetes — through clinical trials, every iteration of the technology, and a lot of real life — taught me what the literature alone can't. Your situation is specific. Let's look at it together. In one conversation, we can usually identify what's actually driving your symptoms and map a clear next step.
We look at what's actually going on — energy, glucose, inflammation, patterns.
You leave with clarity about what's driving it and what to do first.
No hard sell. If working together makes sense, we'll talk about it then.

My father was a PhD microbiologist and clinical chemist who contributed to the development of early home glucose monitors and the first insulin pumps. I grew up in a house where understanding blood sugar, metabolism, and nutrition wasn't abstract — it was dinner table conversation.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1996 and enrolled in the DCCT/EDIC longitudinal study, one of the most significant diabetes clinical trials in history. That gave me access to the science at a level most patients never see — and forty years of data on my own body to work with. I spent those decades combining rigorous Western research with yoga, Ayurveda, systems thinking, and the emerging science of healthy aging. My dog Cocoa — a black Lab and Golden Retriever mix — learned to detect my glucose shifts before my monitor could. I'd spent years studying animal behavior and psychology, and I trained her deliberately. Then she became one of my biggest teachers. The body communicates long before it reaches crisis. The skill is learning to listen. That's what this work is about.
Working with Karin has been illuminating. It's a joy and a relief to have somebody come at my health — physical and mental — from so many different angles. I finally feel seen, which is not how I leave most traditional medicine appointments. Karin is a forest thinker, overlaying the details gleaned from a variety of different wisdom systems on each other. I'm reading these new insights about myself with a sense of recognition, and trying out the concrete suggestions from her — so far so good. I suspect it just deepens from here.
Working with Karin made me feel like I had a map and a true understanding of practices I could use to manage my metabolism and stabilize blood sugars for better mood and memory. I'm truly grateful.
Karin's unique blend of blood sugar control, nutrition, and yoga-inspired methods is effective and life-changing. As a mentor, she's one of a kind and worth every penny. She's a joy to work with and super generous with the support and information she provides through the journey.
Karin is an extraordinary, profoundly energetic coach. She brings expertise in championing change — using her passion to support people in shifting the trajectory of their lives.
Steady Glucose, Real Energy, and the Life You Want
Part memoir, part science, part practical guide — this book begins with Cocoa and the fact that the body sends signals long before symptoms appear. The question it poses — and answers — is what to do when you start paying attention. Foreword by Raymond Aaron.
